Baylor Men’s basketball to Represent USA at 2025 SUMMER World University Games

WACO, Texas - Baylor men's basketball has been selected to represent the United States at the 2025 World University Games, which will be held July 18-26 in Germany.

UNI-USA Federation President Dan Guerrero is excited to have a program of Baylor's caliber represent the red, white and blue.

"We are thrilled to announce that Baylor University Men's Basketball, led by its exceptional Coach Scott Drew, will represent UniUSA at the 2025 FISU World University Summer Games in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany," he said. "Baylor's tradition of excellence, both on and off the court, makes them a perfect ambassador for our nation at this prestigious international event. We look forward to watching them showcase their talent and sportsmanship on the global stage this July. This is a unique opportunity to unite athleticism, education, and international camaraderie, and we are confident that Baylor will make the USA proud."

The Bears represented Team USA in the 2022 GLOBL JAM in Toronto, Canada. After starting 0-3 in pool play, BU fought its way to a silver medal, falling just short against Brazil in the championship game, 77-73. Playing for Team USA is an opportunity Drew and his teams do not take for granted.

"It is a true honor to be asked to represent the United States in the World University Games," head coach Scott Drew said. "Any time you get to wear those colors and compete against teams on a worldwide stage, you make memories your players will never forget. This is a tremendous opportunity for our staff and players, and we can't wait for July."

The World University Games are held every two years, and Baylor will become the sixth collegiate program to compete in the World University Games as Team USA, joining Northern lowa (2007), Kansas (2015), Purdue (2017), Clemson (2019) and Tulane (2023). The Bears were originally selected to play in the 2021 games before they were postponed to 2022.

The United States has fielded a basketball team in the World University Games every year since 1965. Men's Basketball is one of 18 sports in which America will compete against more than 10,000 athletes from around the globe.

Eight previous Baylor men's basketball players have competed for Team USA individually. Taurean Prince played on the United States team in the 2015 Pan Am Games. Additionally, Cory Jefferson (2013), Lawrence Roberts (2003), Brian Skinner (1995, 1996, 1997), Willie Sublett (1991), Micheal Williams (1988), Terry Teagle (1979) and Jack Robinson (1948) have all played for United States national teams.
