2025 FISU World University Games Winter

The Torino 2025 FISU World University Games, taking place from January 13-23, signifies the 32nd edition of the FISU World University Games Winter and is set to unfold in Torino, Italy. Making its fourth return to Torino and the second hosted by the Piedmont region, this event will attract student-athletes globally, showcasing their skills in various winter sports.

The competition will unfold across five communities, each hosting a diverse array of events. Torino will serve as the epicenter for ice hockey, curling, figure skating, and short track speed skating. Bardonecchia, within 100km from Torino, will be the venue for alpine skiing, snowboard, freestyle, and freeski events. Pragelato will host biathlon and cross-country skiing competitions, while Pinerolo and Torre Pellice will be the stages for men's ice hockey round robin action. Additionally, consideration is being given to the inclusion of additional optional sports.

An exciting addition to the Torino 2025 FISU Games is the #TO25 BRAINstorm academic challenge, seamlessly intertwining sports with academic competition. Top university students worldwide will compete for medals in 12 mind disciplines, addressing contemporary challenges through innovative projects and proposals.

Founded in Torino in 1949, FISU will return to its roots for the 2025 Games, casting an international spotlight on the city for 11 days. Thousands of student-athletes from over 50 countries will converge in one of the world's largest winter multi-sport competitions.

The FISU World University Games, embodying the motto "Excellence in Mind and Body," seamlessly integrate an educational aspect, allowing university student-athletes to balance high sports performance with ongoing education in collaboration with the local host city.

In a groundbreaking move, the Torino 2025 FISU World University Games will also host Paralympic competitions. This decision underscores the commitment of the Federation of Italian University Sport (FederCUSI) to promote social inclusion through sports activities, providing a platform for para-snow sports athletes to compete alongside able-bodied athletes.

The competition program spans eleven days, featuring nine compulsory sports at every winter edition of the FISU World University Games. Organizing committees have chosen to include Ski Orienteering and Ski Mountaineering as compulsory sports, showcasing a commitment to innovation and staying at the forefront of sport delivery.

Building on the success of the Winter Universiades in Trentino (2013) and Krasnoyarsk (2019), the Torino 2025 FISU Games aim to uphold tradition. The Krasnoyarsk event, with 58 participating countries, stands as the largest international winter multi-sport event for student-athletes. The Games will be broadcast to over 100 countries, reaching more than 300 million viewers, solidifying its global impact in the world of winter sports.
